Sustainability in action: Circularity at GMF

At GMF, quality is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that products that last are sustainable. This belief leads us to strive for circularity in all our activities.

One of the ways we achieve this is by working with high-quality basic raw materials. Take steel, for example, a material of which nothing goes to waste in our production process. Every piece of grinding or milling waste is carefully collected and reused as a full-fledged raw material, thus creating an efficient and sustainable cycle.

But we want to go even further. Sustainability and circularity are not just words to us; they are spearheads in our growth strategy. An important step we have already taken is our commitment to repairs of our products. When a product malfunctions, we examine it thoroughly and carry out revisions to parts if necessary. This allows our products to last for many years again, maximising their lifespan and minimising waste.

Another focus is on reducing material use in our production processes. By reviewing and optimising our designs, we aim to use fewer materials without compromising on quality or performance. To strengthen these efforts, we recently hired an additional person for our R&D department.

At GMF, we have already made significant strides in circularity, but we are determined to go even further. We look forward to new ideas and insights that can help us achieve our goals. Together, we can have a positive impact on the environment and create a more sustainable future.

We are therefore honoured that the UCLL expert centre came to present their new digital interactive learning platform to support SMEs in their transition to more sustainable and circular business model to the press at GMF in the presence of Flemish Minister for Innovation, Jo Brouns and VKW Limburg.
